What is the customer's though?
Recent consumer research by MVI Marketing shows that millennials are very open to the idea of lab-grown diamonds. The MVI's findings are consistent with a report by Morgan Stanley that called lab-grown diamonds a "serious potential disruptor" of the market.
Many millennials also believe that they would rather save money on gemstones that are both sustainable and ethical than mine gemstones from underground that have a negative impact on the environment and humans. The MVI report shows that millennials prefer to buy larger gemstones that are grown in labs at the same price rather than smaller mined gems.
Interestingly, Kathryn Money, brilliant Earth's vice president of strategy and merchandise sales, claims that "Google's search for lab-grown diamonds has tripled over the past decade."
How to confirm the cultivation of diamonds?
By sight alone, we cannot conclusively identify a diamond as being lab sourced or mined. Man made diamonds have the same physical and chemical properties as natural diamonds that cannot be discerned by the naked eye alone. And cultivation diamonds cut and polish specifications, like natural diamonds, are also divided according to the 4Cs. Therefore, to distinguish, experts need to use specialized equipment to decipher the physical and spectral differences with natural diamonds.
