Cultivated diamonds, also known as synthetic diamonds, are generated in the laboratory, human beings use advanced technology and equipment to restore the high temperature and high pressure environment formed by natural diamonds in the laboratory, and use small diamond seeds to induce natural crystallization of diamonds, so as to cultivate diamonds with the same physical, chemical and optical characteristics as natural diamonds on the surface of the earth.
At present, the manufacturing methods of cultivating diamonds are mainly divided into two kinds, one is high temperature and high pressure method (HPHT synthetic diamond), the other is chemical vapor deposition method (CVD synthetic diamond). It adopts the same grading standard as natural diamonds and supplies the whole diamond industry chain together. The only difference between cultivating diamonds and mining diamonds is the source, one from the laboratory, the other from nature.
CHEMICAL VAPOR DEPOSITION
Chemical Vapor Deposition, or CVD, is a process used to create gem-grade diamonds as well as optics and semiconductors. The CVD process uses ultra-pure carbon-rich gasses in a controlled chamber.
Carbon based gasses, such as methane, are heated until they break apart allowing the carbon atoms within the gas to separate. These tiny carbon atoms fall onto a diamond substrate and build up layers resulting in a rough diamond crystal.
