What is Chemical Vapour Decomposition (CVD)?
CVD full name is Chemical Vapour Deposition,is one of the most evolved and recently developed processes of making diamonds.
CVD stands for chemical vapor deposition and is another method of making diamonds in the laboratory. Specifically, diamonds grow from hydrocarbon gas mixtures and are subjected to moderate pressure and temperature in a vacuum chamber.The history of CVD cultivated diamonds can be traced back to 1952. William Eversole of the US Federal Silicon Carbide Company successfully grown cultivated diamonds with carbon-containing gas under low pressure conditions.It was not until the 21st century that the research and development of gem-grade CVD single-crystal cultivated diamonds made a breakthrough: the American Apollo Diamond Company successfully cultivated the first batch of colorless gem-grade CVD diamonds in 2007.
The new chemical vapor deposition makes diamond manufacturing feel like "growing" diamonds.
But technology is advancing, and chemical vapor deposition can greatly improve these defects. The old technology mainly relies on "pressure", and the new technology is to let the diamond "grow" out on its own - let the special gas decompose the carbon element in a special environment and then precipitate the crystallization. The diamonds synthesized by this method achieve the color and purity of high-grade natural diamonds, and the number of carats is also higher.
