Perhaps the oldest way to make diamonds is through a high-pressure, high-temperature synthesis process. Since the mid-1950s, laboratory diamonds have become part of the market through this technology.

CVD diamonds come from various gases, such as methane. They are stored in a vacuum chamber, which decomposes the molecules of the gas, and then these molecules gather on the pre-existing diamond seeds.
Unlike HPHT diamonds, CVD diamond manufacturing requires only moderate heat and lower pressure. The creator can also control the color of the diamond. Carbon and hydrogen produce colorless crystals, while the introduction of other gases such as boron can produce yellow or blue synthetic diamonds.
