What's the difference between laboratory grown diamonds and diamond simulants?


It is important to note the main differences between laboratory and simulated diamonds. Diamond mimics, such as cubic zirconia and carborundum, look similar to diamonds, but are not real carbon crystals. The chemical and physical properties of simulated diamonds are different from those of natural diamonds, so the price of simulated diamonds is much lower than that of synthetic diamonds. With the naked eye, the simulant can be distinguished from natural diamonds or laboratory grown diamonds.


Natural and laboratory grown diamonds have thermal conductivity, which can be distinguished from cubic zirconia by hand-held diamond tester.
